Seeking Solitude is a deliberate choice. A quiet space or place where one can feel free to savor moments of quiet reflection. To meditate with firm intention. To change old habits with mindful thinking. To recharge your energy. Uplift your mind, body and spirit. Reawaken familiar yearnings. A place within where thoughts are free to stay. Or, go wherever one’s spirit desires. A flight of fancy, a soaring of the imagination. All this and more can be achieved when in quiet solitude.
Every so often I have come across someone who practices the Art of Indifference… and believe me, it is an Art. I wonder to myself if this is something that they have learned along Life’s way, from a parent or has it been there within the very core of their beings right from the start? Out of all the emotions, I think indifference is the most calculating of them all. Only when you are on the receiving end of indifference do you feel the impact of its power. We can overcome anger, we can change attitudes with love but as long as indifference stands in our way, nothing will change. The person who holds indifference close to their heart in the end, has no heart.
The authentic true self that we recognize when we look at ourselves in a mirror. Those first moments as a young child when we see our reflection and recognize the person staring out at us. The moment when we look into those eyes, into that conscience, and realize that no matter how many stories become fabricated fragments of ourselves over time.. eventually our authentic truth will balance everything out.
