Lessons in Love

We are alone, absolutely alone on this chance planet; and amid all the forms of life that surround us, not one, excepting the dog has made an alliance with us.” ~ Maurice Maeterlinck

Life and living is about learning how to give and receive love unconditionally.  It is imperative that we love and be loved.  If not, our existence becomes dull, lifeless and almost monochromatic.  The day we turn our backs on each other is a life not worth living. There will be times when we feel abandoned or without purpose or direction.   This is when we need to create opportunities for ourselves. When we need to trust in ourselves and each other. Life’s most rewarding lesson is learning how to love and be loved.

The symbol of unconditional love and absolute trust.
A man and his dog.

From my perspective, every life form that exists has and is reaching out to make contact. It is we who are not quite ready to perceive and respond. Hopefully that time is coming soon

Beautifully written. A great comparison, A dog is the closest that most come to experiencing unconditional love. If you spell dog backwards you will understand.🌹🌹

A very big and deep message summed up in this post! “Trust” or the lack of it, being the key word! Well said!

The one thing we really need to attend to, a big yes to this.

Human beings seem to be moving farther and farther apart on a personal level. Community is being slowly replaced by social media and that heart felt bond between people is shattered. How hard is it to look up, say good morning how are you and sincerely mean it.

I agree with you and its so sad. We used to have so many gatherings, now some of the children are self involved, busy and apathetic. Fortunately, our times at home are valued within the immediate family and i pray my kids carry that forward.

Love this! And I definitely miss my dog. And I loved someone unconditionally this past year, without expectation, and it was quite liberating.

A dog’s love for it’s master and companion knows no bounds. Beautiful piece.

We have many people in our lives but our dog has just us, we are their entirety. Undiluted love is what they give us. 🌸🌺
