Migratory Spirits

Wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving ~ Kahlil Gibran

And so, how do we know when the time is right to follow our Spiritual Path? As with the migrant birds there is a voice within.  If only we would listen to it.  It whispers to us with such certainty as to when to take flight and even the direction with which to proceed. As migratory birds form a V to make their flight easier so then should we form our own V to ease our Spiritual Journey. If we live mindfully and strive for moral excellence, our V will take beautiful form.  Naturally encompassing the 12 Virtues.

Love, Humility, Perseverance, Respect, Honor, Sacrifice, Truth, Compassion, Bravery, Fortitude, Generosity and Wisdom.

If we lead with Love and fly with a Winged Heart, the rest will follow.

Great post ! All things connected. No coincidences. So I’m currently reading the book The Lakota Way: Stories and Lessons for Living. The author has a chapter on each of the 12 virtues – the Lakota word for each and Native American stories illustrating each. It always amazes me how the Universe speaks to us collectively. The subject for a future post I’m sure πŸ™‚

That sounds very interesting and yes, it definitely calls for a future blog. I will look out for it πŸ™‚ I just recently bought a book which you may find interesting and one to add to your collection. Genocide of the Mind: New Native American Writing (a collection of Essays) Edited by MariJo Moore.

I love this post. As I sit and contemplate my own way forward, over the next few years, one thing is certain: My V is going to be aimed straight at the voices of oppression and will make its way, from a place of truth. I will definitely be getting the two books mentioned above. ❀

I read this on the eve of one of our beloved cats going β€˜home’. The vet is coming tomorrow at 12 noon, and despite the absolute heaviness within our hearts, I love the thought that she is migrating! Her wonderful, funny, wise, matriarchal spirit has earned its stripes, and she will migrate from this physical world, having left a deeply imprinted impression on all who were part of her experience. Thank you for this blog. I do not care whether or not people believe that animals can possess the 12 virtues: I do. And she does.
